I was born and raised in Chatham, Ontario, Canada. I am the oldest of three boys. My parents, Henry Albert Howard and Jeannette Anna (nee Blais) Howard came from the same region. My father, who passed away in 2003 was the son of English parents, who both immigrated to Canada just before the First World War. My mother, who died in 1979, a French Canadian, was born and raised in a small village near Chatham, called Pain Court. My mother’s ancestors were some of the first pioneers in Canada, our first ancestor, Pierre Blais arrived in Canada (then New France) in 1640. Interestingly, when my mother’s family tree was completed some years ago, we discovered that one of our descendents traveled with the famous Fr. Marquette down the Mississippi River. As I mentioned before, I have two brothers, Mark, who is married and resides in Ottawa, the capital city of Canada with his lovely wife Jane, and their two children, Abigail and Nathan. My youngest brother, Jeffrey resides in Windsor, Ontario. I attended the University of Western Ontario, in London, and Kings College, where I studied languages, philosophy and history. I completed my seminary studies at St. Peter’s Seminary in London and was ordained on April 28, 1990. I spent 6 years, serving in two parishes in Canada, and have spent the last 11 years as pastor of Mt. Zion Catholic Pastoral Center, in Flushing, Michigan I enjoy reading, painting and putzing in the garden. I am very pleased to see that we have a parish school. I have always been an enthusiastic supporter of catholic education. I have worked extensively in Youth Ministry and evangelization. I promise to bring all my gifts and enthusiasm to the parish and look forward to working with the parish staff and parishioners of Most Holy Trinity. I love being a priest and love my ministry to God’s people. I am excited that we have a number of seminarians in our parish.
May the Risen Lord Jesus, our Victor over sin and death, bless you abundantly and give you His grace.
Yours in Christ, Fr. Dennis Howard
