Have you ever been a part of something where you felt like you truly belonged? Maybe it was on a sports team, in a band or around the dinner table with family. Belonging is something that many psychologists believe is an innate human need. Belonging is something we each desperately need. We want to feel like we can be ourselves in a group of individuals who accept us for who we are. I also believe that coming together to a place where we can all belong is part of God’s design for us.
When I look back on my life up until now, the majority of my favorite memories involve times when I felt like I truly belonged: sleepovers with friends, running cross country States, being on retreat planning teams, having friends over for dinner. At many stages of my life, Music Ministry has been the place where I have found belonging. Standing with a choir or sitting at a piano and creating music for the Lord has always allowed me to draw closer to God and helped make my parish feel like home.
Our vision for Music Ministry here at Most Holy Trinity is that it will do the same for you. For some of you, this will happen through attending mass and encountering the Lord through the music you hear and sing in the congregation. But, I would like to take this opportunity to invite each of you to consider becoming a part of MHT Music Ministry. If you have never had a personal invite, consider this it. If you have had a stirring in your heart to ask about getting involved, now is the time. If you have heard your friends or family singing and have been impressed (or if you just wish they would not sit by you at mass), show them this article.
Here are some ways to get involved. For the choirs, consider the next mass listed as a “come and try it out” mass with no strings attached. We would love to have you!
