Sr. Mary Jordan and Sr. Mary Aquinas from the Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist in Ann Arbor will be helping to lead VBS on June 24 - 28. I asked them to write a bulletin article to introduce themselves and preview some of what they have planned for VBS this summer. - Paul

Hello from the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist! It is our great pleasure to be a part of Vacation Bible School at Most Holy Trinity Parish this summer (June 24 - 28). You may be wondering what to expect. As Dominican sisters, we seek to first love the Truth, by means of an intense and prayerful study of the Word of God and the truths of our Catholic tradition. In order to arrive at a deep love for truth, we must study it first. These aspects of our community’s charism play an enormous role in all that we do, including VBS.
Each day will include a formal class in which various subjects of the faith are explored. Additionally, each student will receive the gift of being able to spend more time with Jesus in the Eucharist through daily prayer. It should not come as a surprise that as Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist we have deep and ardent love for the most Holy Sacrament of the Altar! Christ’s Eucharistic Heart is at the very center of our being. We also seek to pattern our fidelity to Him after His mother, Mary. No one was more faithful to Jesus than Mary. Thus, specific focuses for this summer’s camp will include the mysteries of the Rosary, meditation and Lectio Divina (praying with Scripture).
This year’s theme is The Sacred Heart of Jesus. It is especially fitting because the last day of camp falls on June 28, which is the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus! On this day students will have extra time with Jesus in Eucharistic Adoration, while also receiving instruction from Father Dennis.
In addition to all of this, there will be time for games, crafts and music. Please consider signing up if you have not yet done so! Our hope for you is that you may come to know and love God in a deeper way this summer, growing in your identity as a child of God and faithful Catholic. Please know that we are praying for each one of you.
Sister Mary Jordan is originally from New York and completed two years of college before discerning God’s call to enter the Dominican Sisters of Mary. She recently completed her degree in Music Education. Sister Mary Aquinas is originally from Texas and entered the community after having led a successful career in business. She currently teaches high school math. Both sisters are looking forward to the opportunity to share more about their vocations and discernment during their time at Most Holy Trinity.
The Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist was founded in 1997 in response to Pope St. John Paul II’s call for a New Evangelization. Since that time, the community has grown from the four founding Sisters to over 140 Sisters, representing most of the states across America, provinces in Canada, as well as Europe and Asia. The average age of the Sisters is 32, and the average age of entrance is 22.
