Bake Sale (3 dozen):
We are in the process of working on the recess calendar for the 2017-18 school year. Six recess supervision days are required per family. There will be a $10.00 charge for each recess that a parent is unable to help. Your $10.00 fee allows MHT School to pay those who volunteer to cover in your absence at a reasonable rate for their time and effort.
- You can view the recess calendar on the school website at mhtparish.com.
- Click on the “School” tab at the top of the page.
- Scroll down and click on the “Lunch & Recess Schedule” icon to view the calendar.
Please email the office with your date preferences. Choose only open dates on the calendar. We need one parent per recess date Monday through Thursday. On Fridays we will need 2 recess aides. Include at least 4 extra dates just in case the first 6 you chose are already taken.
In your email, please indicate if you would like to be on the recess sub list as well. The final schedule will be ready in a few weeks.
Protecting God’s Children Workshop:
In order to work with students or chaperone class trips (including the 8th grade trip), parents are required by the Diocese to attend a Protecting God’s Children workshop. Mrs. Hufnagel will be presenting the workshop here at MHT School in the next month or so. The date and time will be posted in our daily announcements as soon as it is scheduled. You may also attend a workshop offered at another school in the Diocese if it better fits your schedule. You can go to the Virtus website: https://www.virtusonline.org to see when other schools are offering the workshop.
NOTE: A copy of your certificate is required for our files if you attend a workshop at another location.
MEDICATION: School employees are not allowed to dispense any kind of medication to students unless permission to do so is on file in the office. The permission form must be signed by the parent.
- Short term medication: A note from parents must accompany any medication (including over the counter drugs) if a child is expected to take medication in school on any one day. The note and the medication must be taken to the office for safe keeping until such time as the medication is dispensed.
- Long term medication: Children taking daily medication need to have a medication form on file at the school. Please contact the school if you would like a form emailed to you. The form and medication can be brought to the office on the first day of school.
MHT Students & the Rosary: We have a wonderful opportunity for students to volunteer at the church by helping lead the rosary before the 4:30 mass on Saturdays. MHT students have a designated slot in the rotation for these masses this school year. The rotation averages about once every 8 weeks. There will be 5 students leading the rosary, with each student leading one decade. The number of students that sign up will determine how often each student will be assigned to help lead at a mass.
There are some guide sheets that help the students through the process, even including the Hail Mary and Our Father. Students will be required to arrive 35-40 minutes prior to mass starting. The rosary will be reviewed and any questions answered. The students will sit in chairs/pew located by the pulpit (where the altar servers sit) and take their turn for the decade they are assigned. There will be a parent to help adjust microphone and help with the step stool if necessary. Once the rosary is completed, the students can return to their seat.
NOTE: We are also looking for parent volunteers to assist the students with the rosary.
If interested, please call the school office at 593-2616 or reply by email with the following information:
- Name of child(ren)
- Phone number you can be reached at
- Indicate if you are willing to assist the students with the rosary
A schedule will be emailed to parents a few weeks after school starts. Reminders will be placed in the announcements of when students are assigned to recite the rosary at Mass.
Reporting Illnesses: The Health Department relies on the schools to accurately report trends in illness in our county. All schools submit a weekly communicable disease report to the health department. We report “numbers” of students with: Apparent Flu: fever, body aches, sore throat, generalized aching in the back or limbs, Viral Gastroenteritis: diarrhea/vomiting without respiratory symptoms, Strep Throat, Asthma, Head Lice or Pink Eye. When emailing or leaving a voice message regarding your child’s absence, please give us specific information that will help us to give accurate information to the health department.
Save the Date: Ahoy, Me Hearties! It's a Pirate Party! Get ready to walk the plank! The 26th Annual MHT School Dinner Raffle and Auction Fundraiser is being held on Saturday, November 4th.
Lunch Application (Waldron): If you would like to see if you qualify for free or reduced lunch, you can apply at www.lunchapp.com.
REMIND SYSTEM: For those who have not already signed up, we will once again be using the REMIND system to send out text messages concerning days off school, late starts, or early dismissals due to inclement weather. Those announcements will also be on our website, news channels and radio stations. If you want to get the text message alerts please follow the directions below (*Note: if you are already a member of the group my husband has set up for Fowler Public Schools you will get a second text from me). I would not expect to have emergency alerts outside of those from Fowler Public Schools but I can't guarantee that might not happen.
REMIND Directions: Put in this number to send a text message: 81010

Waldron Lunch Money / Meal Magic - Lunch money can be sent to school daily, weekly, monthly, etc. Lunches should be paid for ahead of time, not after the fact. A good routine is to pay each Monday. Lunch money is collected by teachers each morning during the hot lunch count. When sending lunch money to school, please place it in envelope labeled with your child’s first & last name, grade and mark it as LUNCH. All lunch money collected is sent to the kitchen each morning, where it is recorded, a first/last name along with a grade is very helpful in keeping accurate track of payments. You can make deposits to your lunch accounts at https://www.sendmoneytoschool.com/dashboard/login.aspx. You can pay by credit card on this site; however there is a $2 fee per transaction. If you need your child’s ID, please contact the Waldron office. Link to Meal Magic: https://mealmagic2.edzone.net/MealMagic/mylunchaccount/
